NOTICES

11th November 2007 - Remembrance Sunday.

Captain Austin Ardill beside the new war memorial plaque which he presented to Holy Trinity Woodburn. The plaque was dedicated as part of the act of remembrance. Capt Ardill, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, served with distinction during WWII being awarded a Military Cross for his bravery on the Greek island of Leeros.

Captain Ardill was a prisoner of war for 18 months before being freed by the advancing allies after the D-Day landings. Captain Ardill has in the past shared his war experiences with different groups within Holy Trinity.

He has spoken movingly of the death of many of his school friends during WWII and quoted often from his favourite hymn 'Amazing Grace.'
