Organisations - THE POTTERS HOUSE

Our Aim:

To give all children the opportunity to learn about Jesus, which will one day lead to them knowing Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.

Potter's House is the chosen name for our Sunday School at Holy Trinity. This is a large Sunday school of 70 children, staffed by eight teachers and three helpers. All of the children attending Sunday school each week are registered and parental permission given as set out by the Church of Ireland: Safeguarding Trust guidance. All leaders, teachers and helpers have been given clearance to work with children by the government body Access NI.

Potter's House takes place over three terms that mirror the academic year, September to Christmas, New Year to Easter and Easter to June. The teachers use 'Light' (Scripture Union) Bible based material with the children. There are four classes. Nursery to Primary 2, Primary 3/4, Primary 5/6 and a Primary 7 class.

Potter's House takes place during the church service each Sunday, apart from the fourth Sunday of each month, when there is a Family Service. On alternate first and third Sundays, a different group of teachers and leaders take the children for J-Club. This is a Bible based club, also teaching the children about Jesus. For children in first year at secondary school and older there is a Bible Class that meets each Sunday before church.

Potter's House is a very busy organisation. There is a Harvest Appeal, when the children, parents and friends raise money for Christian Charities. In the past we have bought chickens and Bibles for Fields of Life, and the Potter's House children have also donated hundreds of pencil cases and their contents to Ugandan schools. Christmas is also a busy time, and Potter's House take part in a Nativity service. There is also a Christmas Outing each year. In the summer there is always a final end-of-year prize giving.
